The surprising Hollywood superstar who is obsessed with Neighbours and ‘wetting herself’ with excitement to see Guy Pearce return as heartthrob Mike Young
There is one Hollywood superstar who can’t get enough of Neighbours and is gutted to see the show come to an end this week.
Aussie actor Guy Pearce has revealed that his Mare of Easttown co-star Kate Winslet is an obsessive fan of the beloved soap, and is ‘wetting herself’ with excitement to see him back in character as the motor bike riding heartthrob, Mike Young.
‘Kate is a huge fan of the show,’ the homegrown Hollywood star told Who Weekly.

Last month producers confirmed that Guy, who first appeared on Ramsay Street in 1986, would return to Neighbours for Thursday night’s final episode.
‘She (Kate) was besotted with Mike back in the day,’ he continued.
‘When I told her I was coming back, she was beside herself.’

Guy and Kate, 46, became friends after working on HBO’s Mildred Pearce in 2010. The stars teamed again in 2021 for the streaming giant’s hit series Mare of Easttown.
The down-to-earth star revealed elsewhere in the chat he was only 18 and straight out school when he filmed his first episode for the series in 1985.
Describing himself as ‘nostalgic’, Guy said he always wanted to come back to Neighbours as an actor and that appearing on the show was ‘super lucky’ for his career.

Meanwhile, he says he regularly catches up with his 80’s co-stars from Neighbours, including the show’s much-loved couple, Scott and Charlene – Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue.
‘Jason and I see each other all the time, and we still call each other Scott and Mike, which is a bit sad!’
Neighbours was axed after the UK’s Channel 5 decided in March not to renew its contract with production company Fremantle to finance and broadcast the series.

Like Guy, Kylie and Jason have joined a long list of Neighbours stars lured back for Thursday night’s 90-minute final episode.
Fans can look forward to seeing Margot Robbie, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Delta Goodrem, Jesse Spencer, Holly Valance, Carla Bonner, Natalie Imbruglia and Kym Valentine, return for the finale.
Guy filmed his emotional final scenes with former co-stars Ian Smith, who played the legendary Harold Bishop, Henrietta Graham, Annie Jones and Peter O’Brien.
