  • The GOP South Carolina Senator filed paperwork with the FEC on Friday
  • Joins a crowded field that already includes Trump and state rival Nikki Haley

Republican Senator Tim Scott has filed paperwork to run for president in 2024.

The GOP’s only black Senator, 57, registered with the Federal Election Commission on Friday ahead of his formal announcement in South Carolina on Monday.

He enters a Republican field that already includes Donald Trump, Nikki Haley and Vivek Ramaswamy and former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is likely to be added when he makes his highly-anticipated announcement next week.

The impoverished child of a single mother Scott of South Carolina often points to his personal story as proof that America remains a land of promise.

To gear up for the announcement, he is planning to a $6million ad campaign across multiple states, The Hill reported.

Trump has continued to dominate in the polls and is leading his closest contender, DeSantis, by double-digits in multiple states.

Scott came fourth in a South Carolina poll of Republican presidential candidates in April with just seven percent.

Trump lead the field with 41 percent, while DeSantis had 20 percent and Haley had 18 percent.

He announced that he would be launching an exploratory committee for a presidential run in April with a video invoking the start of the Civil War.

His video featured images of Fort Sumter in Charleston Harbor, where Confederate troops opened fire 150 years ago, and blamed Joe Biden for disunity.

‘On this day, April 12, 1861, in this harbor, the first shots of the Civil War were fired and our country faced the defining moment: Would we truly be one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all,’ Scott says.

‘America’s soul was put to the test – and we prevailed. Today, our country is once again being tested. Once again, our divisions run deep and the threat to our future is real. Joe Biden and the radical left have chosen a culture of grievance over greatness. They’re promoting victimhood instead of personal responsibility and they’re indoctrinating our children to believe we live in an evil country,’ he said.

He then used his own background to claim he was a threat to Democrats.

‘Because I disrupt their narrative. I threaten their control. They know the truth of my life disproves their lies,’ he said.

Images show him standing in front of the cannons at Ft. Sumter and holding a bible.
