Stephen, 58, noted that he asked his mother if he could stay up late to watch Presley’s Aloha from Hawaii via Satellite live show in 1973 that was watched by 1.5 billion people.

‘By the way, dreamed up by Colonel Tom Parker,’ interjected Tom who wore a dark brown jacket over a black shirt along with black pants on the talk show.

Tom then dropped into an accent as he channeled Presley’s manager Parker and said, ‘Why would you go travel around the world when the world will tune in to see you. You don’t have to do this.’

‘But the back story on that was that he couldn’t travel around the world because,’ Stephen said.

‘Because he had no passport and he would not have been allowed into the country,’ Tom said laughing.

He then shushed everyone with a smile.

‘Shhhh. Spoiler alert. Thanks, guys. Now who’s going to see the movie now. For crying out loud,’ Tom jokingly said.

‘Can you not do that,’ he told the host.

‘So sorry, we can’t do that,’ Stephen said as he played along.

Tom received a thunderous applause when Stephen earlier welcomed him to the Ed Sullivan Theater and quickly started plugging the film co-starring Austin Butler, 30, as Elvis.

He pointed out that Presley performed on the Ed Sullivan Show and was watched by 60 million Americans.

‘This was huge. And the very next day Colonel Tom Parker realized that everybody in America is talking about Elvis Presley so he is no longer going to appear for free on TV. After that moment you had to either buy a record or a ticket to his show or a ticket to one of his movies or listen to him on the radio for which Colonel Tom Parker got a few cents every time it played,’ Tom said.

Stephen said that Elvis got $50,000 to appear three times on the Ed Sullivan Show ‘which was a crazy amount of money’ at the time.

Tom said Sullivan understood it was worth paying for Elvis to appear on his show.

‘As Colonel Tom Parker himself said,’ Tom added as he dropped into character. ‘Well, I will be happy to put my boy on television provided they pay the price and that price is $50,000.’

Stephen shared a photo of Elvis on the Ed Sullivan Show in October 1956 and Tom pointed out the spot on the stage where he performed.

‘And you should have just like a soft light shining down on that little space,’ Tom said.

Tom recently sparked health concerns after appearing gaunt in public, but he was animated while discussing the film with Stephen.

He drummed with his fingers on Stephen’s desk before excitedly sharing a story told to him by his late makeup artist Danny Striepeke who was Presley’s makeup artist on four films.

‘On a movie that Danny did there was a young girl who was playing somebody in the thing. And she was very attractive and she was very thrilled to be in a movie with Elvis,’ Tom said.

‘And she went through the movie and it was all fine. And on her last day of film she came into the hair and makeup trailer and she was just despondent,’ Tom said as he acted out her crying.

He said they tried to do her hair and makeup but she just kept ‘crying and crying and crying and crying.’

Tom said they asked her why she was so distraught as they tried to get her ready.

‘I’m trying to think about the euphemistic word, let me just say this …”I just want to have sex with him. Is that so bad? I just want to have sex with him!”,’ Tom said as the audience laughed.

Elvis is scheduled to be released in theaters on June 23 in Australia and June 24 in the United States.
