Beauty and the Geek star with a ‘serious drug problem’ now seeking treatment in rehab after pleading guilty to assaulting a family member

Former Beauty and the Geek star Jordan Finlayson is headed to rehab to treat her drug problem after pleading guilty to assaulting her brother-in-law.

According to news.com.au, the 31-year-old recently completed a three-week rehabilitation program over Christmas and her psychologist has recommended that she continue treatment at a beachside mental health facility in Sydney.

Deputy Chief Magistrate Sharon Freund agreed and acknowledged that Ms Finlayson was showing improvement.

‘For the first time, she’s actually engaging,’ she said. ‘And she’s making some really positive steps which is fabulous.’

Ms Finlayson has faced a string of charges over the past year, including two counts of common assault, an apprehended violence order and possession of identity information with the intention of committing fraud.

Last September, the ex-NRL cheerleader found herself in front of a judge again, this time pleading guilty to one count of assault at Downing Centre Local Court in Sydney.

Finlayson had been living with her sister, brother-in-law, their two children and her father at a home in Botany in February last year, according to a police fact sheet viewed by News.

She had only just been released from two years and three months behind bars at the end of 2021 – with her family making her agree to a set of ‘rules’ if she were to live with them including not bringing anyone they don’t know into the house.

On Valentine’s Day last year, February 14, the Beauty and the Geek star brought her boyfriend to their house and hid him in her room.

Court documents state the family had a CCTV camera at the front of the house and they knew an unknown man had entered.

The next day, Finlayson’s sister asked her if the man was still there and she said ‘no’.

A few hours later her brother-in-law also asked if the man was still there. She said ‘no’ again, but her sister walked into the room and found the boyfriend hiding under the bed.

The man was ‘severely affected by illicit drugs’, according to court documents.

The adults then got into an argument, with the sister telling the boyfriend to ‘get out of this house’, before the former model became involved.

Finlayson hurled abuse at her sister, including screaming at her ‘f*ck off you fat b*tch’.

The brother-in-law then stepped in to calm the two sisters, before Finlayson took a glass of juice and threw it at his head, according to court documents.

She hit him just above the right eye, before running and hiding in her bedroom. Her sister then dragged her out of the house by her hair.

Three days later, police were informed Finlayson was at the house again with her boyfriend, who was wanted on two outstanding arrest warrants and for alleged malicious wounding.

Officers forced their way into the home in Sydney’s south and arrested the former NRL cheerleader and her partner.

Finlayson was granted bail and set to appear in court six days later but was arrested the day before her hearing and thrown back behind bars with bail revoked.

She appeared at Downing Centre initially planning on fighting the charges, but decided to plead guilty to one charge of assault.

Her barrister, Daniel Grippi, said it was clear she suffers from a serious drug addiction, adding every court she’s faced has recommended she be sent to rehab.

Finlayson was a cheerleader for the NRL clubs Cronulla Sharks and Wests Tigers and the Sydney Kings basketball team in 2014.
