Two men die and third rushed to hospital after ‘stolen’ car smashes into pole in western Sydney

Two teenagers have died and another is in hospital after a horrific car crash in western Sydney.

Emergency services were called to the Cowpasture Road and The Horsley Drive roundabout in Abbotsbury at about 4.20am on Sunday after reports a Holden Commodore SS had smashed into a pole.

Officers were told the car left the road before crossing the roundabout and slamming into the pole.

Two teenagers aged 15 and 17 were thrown from the vehicle in the crash and died at the scene. 

A 17-year-old boy was injured in the crash and was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Liverpool Hospital. 

A 37-year-old man was arrested at the scene and charged with two counts of dangerous driving occasioning death, and dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.

He was also charged with two counts of dangerous driving. 

Police allege the Commodore was stolen from a home at Edmondson Park prior to the crash.

Fairfield Police Station Detective Inspector Ritchie Sim said he did not want to speculate on the cause of the crash.

‘We’ve had a number of witnesses come forward and we hope more will contact us with dash cam footage,’ he said.

He urged motorists to exercise caution when driving in wet conditions.
