Two people were injured in a shooting near PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in central Vancouver about 1 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
Ilia Botvinnik, a Vancouver police spokesman, confirmed that a shooting happened in a building at 505 N.E. 87th Ave., Vancouver. The shooting was apparently at the 505 Building, north of the hospital. It houses several outpatient medical offices.
PeaceHealth was placed on modified lockdown with most entrances closed, according to a press release from PeaceHealth. The crime scene was secured and the lockdown had been lifted by shortly after 2 p.m.
Both victims, one man and one woman, were transported to PeaceHealth Southwest’s Emergency Department for treatment, according to PeaceHealth. No names, conditions or other details about the victims were available.
Gaye Lynn Cook, 57, of Vancouver was in the waiting room of the the 505 Building for an eye appointment when she heard shots fired, though the didn’t recognize them until someone else in the waiting room said the sounds were gunshots. Everyone in the waiting room was directed to go down the hall and into patient rooms.
