Tyrese Gibson pushes back at accusations DJ Envy and wife Gia Casey made claiming actor had been ‘flirting and inappropriate’ with her

Tyrese Gibson is in a nasty war of words with DJ Envy and wife Gia Casey, after the couple claimed that the actor had behaved inappropriately toward her by ‘flirting’ and making ‘inappropriate compliments.’
The conflict between the Fast & Furious actor, 44, and DJ Envy, 46, whose real name is Raashaun Casey, went public when they chat about the issue Thursday on the latter’s Breakfast Club radio show on 105.1 FM in New York City.
In the exchange, DJ Envy told the Watts, Los Angeles native that he wanted to box his mouth in response to the remarks Gibson directed at Gia, 44, which she later described as ‘flirting and inappropriate compliments, for a woman who’s married.’
Gibson staunchly denied any wrongdoing in an extended clip he posted to his Instagram Monday, in which he said that he never had any communications ‘directly to Envy or directly to his wife where I disrespected him or her.’
Gibson said he thoroughly reviewed his text message logs to double check that he never made any remarks that could be taken the wrong way.
‘I literally just had to pull up some receipts and I had to go and look in my phone and say, “When is the last time we were actually communicating, and does anything about our communication feel like I actually disrespected his wife or him?”‘ Gibson said.
The Baby Boy actor said that it ‘was the most hurtful thing ever’ to be implicated in a situation as such, brushing off the notion that medication he might have been on played a role in his allegedly off-putting conduct toward the couple.
‘Whether I was on psych meds or not, you’re not describing me as a man,’ he said.
On the radio program Thursday, DJ Envy said that he’d blocked Gibson from his contact list, as he was put off by the way the actor interacted with others.
‘I didn’t want to see Tyrese as that – that’s not the man that was my brother,’ DJ Envy said.
Gibson in the clip Tuesday displayed a group text message from August of 2022 that included both DJ Envy and Gia, saying it proved that the couple had not been straightforth in saying that he and Gia had blocked Gibson from her contacts over his comments.
‘I got receipts – if your wife blocked me, how are we communicating about anything on Aug. 23, 2022?’ Gibson said.
Gibson said DJ Envy was lying when he claimed that he had unblocked him last month, saying, ‘That’s a f***ing lie, bro – that is a lie.’
DJ Envy had past publicly stated that Tyrese supported him in rebuilding his marriage to Casey after he had been unfaithful to her.
In their exchange on the radio show last week, Gibson said that he’d been taking ‘psych meds’ during the timeframe he clashed with DJ Envy, saying it was akin to being drunk.
Gibson asked DJ Envy if he took that into account, knowing ‘characteristically, that’s not who this man is.’
DJ Envy said he ‘never had a conversation’ with Gibson at the time because he ‘never wanted to see’ him in that condition.
He added: ‘The person who spoke to my wife during that time with the texts, I didn’t like that. And I wanted to remember Tyrese as a brother who helped my relationship. So I took a step back.
‘I didn’t know what you were going through and I tried to talk to you, and I seen who you were … and when I seen how you were talking this way, I said, ‘I’m gonna take a step back.’
Gibson said DJ Envy had been a wishy-washy friend to him, saying, ‘How convenient for you to step back – I never stepped back from you.’
DJ Envy conceded that Gibson had been a loyal friend in the past, but things changed after his allegedly offensive exchange with Gia.
‘I never talked to your wife in a disrespectful manner – and you talked to mine in a disrespectful manner,’ DJ Envy said. ‘And I never told nobody that.
‘And you can say you were on psych meds and you can say that you weren’t, but as a man, Tyrese, some of the things you said deserve me to box your mouth.’
DJ Envy said that as result of some of Gibson’s remarks, Gia refuses to return his calls.
‘That was the reason I stopped talking to you and wouldn’t reach out to you anymore,’ he said. ‘I’m like, “I don’t want to remember my brother as that.”‘
On Tuesday, DJ Envy and his spouse addressed Gibson’s social remarks on The Breakfast Club, saying that while he had past been a helpful presence, they decided to cease contact with him twice, as far as years back.
Gia said that her perception was that ‘lines were being crossed’ in Gibson’s discussions with her, which she characterized as ‘inappropriate and uncomfortable’ at times.
She explained: ‘I felt like he was extremely demanding of my time and attention, where if I didn’t give him my time and my attention, he would get very angry, get very upset.
‘There was flirting and inappropriate compliments, for a woman who’s married.’
