Vin Diesel remembers late friend and Fast & Furious costar Paul Walker on ninth anniversary of his death in car crash: ‘Love you and miss you’

Vin Diesel paid tribute to his late friend and costar Paul Walker on the ninth anniversary ahead of the actor’s tragic passing in a 2013 car crash.

The Fast and the Furious actor, 55, posted an image of himself alongside Walker, who was 40 at the time of the fatal car wreck in Santa Clarita, California on November 30, 2013.

The A-list action star captioned the shot of himself and Walker, who played Brian O’Conner in the film series, ‘Nine years… love you and miss you.’

A week following Walker’s death, Diesel said in a Facebook post, ‘Pablo, I wish you could see the world right now… and the profound impact, your full life has had on it, on Us… on me.’

In reference to Walker’s character in the film series, he said, ‘I will always love you Brian, as the brother you were… on and off screen.’

He noted how he had stayed close with Walker’s family in the wake of his death.

‘I thought they needed my strength, but realized when I got there and broke down before his family, that it was I who needed theirs,’ Diesel said. ‘His mother hugged me and said, I am so sorry… I said sorry? You’re the mother who lost a son?… She said yes, but you lost your other half.’

Just more than a month after Walker’s passing, Diesel opened up on Facebook in January of 2014 about how he missed his friend.

‘There was always moments of child-like laughter… We had accomplished so much by 2013… P.s. The complexities of Brotherhood, and the painful void… of it’s absence,’ he said.

Diesel accompanied Walker’s daughter (and his goddaughter) Meadow, 24, down the aisle as she got married to Louis Thornton-Allan last year.

He said in a November 2021 Instagram post that Walker advised him to stay in the delivery room when he was getting ready to have daughter Hania, now 14, with partner Paloma Jiménez, 39.

‘I told you that I was about to have a baby and didn’t know what to expect at the hospital which I was heading to after work,’ Diesel said. ‘Will never forget what you told me. You said a lot of tough guys will tell you to wait out side of the delivery room, but that’s wrong. Go in there, actually cut the umbilical cord and it will be the best day of your life.’

Diesel noted how his daughter was a key member of Meadow’s bridal court when she wed.

‘The same angel that you helped me prepare for in the most beautiful way with your brotherly advice is the same angel that precious Meadow asked to be her Maid of Honor,’ Diesel said. ‘How could I have known that back on the 2008 set of Fast… but maybe somehow you did.’
