With holidays abroad looking increasingly unlikely, it’s little wonder that many people in the UK are wondering whether they’ll be able to take some form of summer trip without leaving the country.

Despite there being some easing of the lockdown measures in place, Health Secretary Matt Hancock said when asked whether ‘summer was cancelled’ on This Morning: ‘I think that’s likely to be the case.’

He added: ‘We haven’t made a final decision on that yet but it is clear that we will seek to reopen hospitality, some hospitality, from early July if we keep successfully reducing the spread of this virus.

‘But social distancing of some kind is going to continue.

‘The conclusion from that is it is unlikely that big, lavish international holidays are going to be possible for this summer.’

With that in mind, many may be wondering whether places in the UK like caravan homes will be open, so that people can take trips within the country this summer…

When might caravan parks reopen?

It’s not yet known exactly when places like caravan parks will be able to reopen in the UK, with people currently able to drive further away from their homes to get their exercise but not able to stay in places other than their own homes.

When asked if there is a limit on how far people can drive to get somewhere to exercise, Mr Hancock said on BBC Radio 4’s Today: ‘No, there isn’t.

‘But this isn’t for people to move house or to go on holiday or to be able to stay.’

He also emphasised the importance of maintaining social distancing.

At the time of writing, different holiday sites have different plans in place for when they might reopen, and these will be subject to change based on the Government rules and regulations in place.
