The stars who are morphing into their partners: Kourtney Kardashian’s transformation from reality TV show Barbie to goth bride leads celebs ditching their old look to dress EXACTLY like their man
- Kourtney Kardashian has transformed her style since dating Travis Barker
- Others including Chrishell Strauss and Kim Kardashian have also done the same
- Stylist told FEMAIL matching a partner’s style can sometimes be ‘subconscious’
- Explained changing style with a new partner is a sign of a ‘healthy relationship’
Celebrities like Kourtney Kardashian and Chrishell Strause ‘subconsciously’ change their fashion sense to match their partners in order to ‘strengthen their bond’, a stylist has revealed.
Over the past week, all eyes have been on the eldest Kardashian, 43, who donned a series of black gothic style gowns and a white bodycon mini dress as she married her beau Travis Barker in Positano.
The look is a far cry from Kourtney’s style before she began dating the Blink 182 rocker, who as gone from feminine outfits in bright colours and clashing prints, to gothic, grunge garments in dark hues.
Fashion expert and personal stylist Samantha Harman told FEMAIL that it’s normal for an individual’s style to change or evolve when they meet a new partner.
She explained: ‘Dressing in a way that matches your partner can happen subconsciously.’

And Kourtney is far from the only star who has transformed their look after meeting their partner – Maisie Williams often wears outlandish and coordinated outfits with her boyfriend Reuben Selby (left, before they met in 2018, and right in 2020)
‘It’s a way of putting on a united front, or showing that we fit with them.’
She continued: ‘We may not even recognise how our style is evolving with every new relationship we have.
‘Only seven per cent of our communication is language – the rest is physiology, and when couples match and mirror one another, they gain rapport, which strengthens their bond and makes them feel closer.’
The personal stylist added: ‘Our sense of style can change over time as we evolve as people – whether we have a partner or not.
‘But in a healthy relationship, the person you’re with brings out the best in you.
‘So, it may be that some celebrities’ style has evolved in their relationships, because their partner makes them feel accepted no matter what they wear, and therefore they feel confident to try something new or evolve in their style.’
Star of Selling Sunset Chrishell Stause is known for her feminine style (left), but since dating her new non-binary partner G-Flip, has opted for a more casual, dressed down look (right, together)
Since meeting G-Flip, Chrishell has gone from Barbie doll glamour (pictured in February) to ‘tomboy’ chic (right on a trip to Sydney)
Since her whirlwind romance with Travis began in December 2020, Kourtney’s fashion sense has completely changed.
Five years ago, the socialite wasn’t afraid of wearing pink dresses on the red carpet, and was often seen in bright hues and printed garments.
However, in the past two years, Kourtney has been seen donning more leather, gothic lace, cross-adorned black chokers, fishnet tights, rock-band t-shirts, latex trousers, and darker make-up.
She’s not the only Kardashian to have transformed her style depending on whom she is dating – her younger sister Kim has also adapted her look when with her different partners.
Since she began dating her latest beau Pete Davidson, she appears to be wearing brighter and more playful outfits.
The 41-year-old seems to be having more fun with fashion than she ever did with Kanye – experimenting with brighter colours and being unafraid to go from a skin-tight bodysuit one day to a baggy jumper and jeans the next.

Kim has moved away from the countless Balenicaga outfits and masked looks for slinkier body-con outfits in block colours.
But the TV personalities aren’t the only celebrities to change their looks after meeting someone new.
Chrishell Stausse of Netflix’s reality show Selling Sunset is another celebrity whose style has dramatically changed since being seen with her new beau.
The 40-year-old actress’ outfits have altered fast since confirming her relationship with 27-year-old musician G Flip earlier this month.
During the taped reunion episode of Selling Sunset season five, which was released on Netflix on May 6, Chrishell told host Tan France: ‘I recently have been spending a lot of time with someone that’s very important to me. Their name is G Flip. They’re nonbinary, so they go by they/them. And they are an extremely talented musician.’
Since then, Chrishell has been seen with G Flip wearing clothes a little different to her usual outfits of feminine dresses and bright colours.
Since Kim Kardashian began dating her latest beau Pete Davidson, she has moved away from some of her more outrageous bodycon looks in favour of a more dressed-down style
The media mogul has gone from Barbie doll glamour to ‘tomboy’ chic. Chrishell was pictured over the past week enjoying a holiday in G Flip’s home country of Australia. On Friday, May 20, the pair were spotted cuddling at Sydney Airport.
The Selling Sunset star donned a pair of pale blue, high-waisted jeans in a slightly flared fit, paired with white trainers, a white, a white tank top, and a cropped pale pink denim jacket.
She looked comfortable in her casualwear, completing the look with aviator sunglasses and a black rucksack.
G Flip was in ripped white jeans, black and white trainers, and an oversized leather jacket. She also accessorised with sunglasses, as well as a chunky silver chain.
Meanwhile Megan Fox has ditched her girly, youthful style (left, in 2011) for a gothy look since she began dating Machine Gun Kelly (right, in 2022)
Kristen Stewart has also started dressing more like her partner Dylan Meyer since the two began dating – even dying her hair blonde like her fiancee (left, in 2012, and right in 2022)
Megan Fox is another familiar figure whose style has altered over the years, becoming more similar to that of her boyfriend’s, American rapper Machine Gun Kelly.
Since she started dating the 32-year-old in May 2020, the 36-year-old film star has started to wear clothes that match his style, going from short, girlish dresses and smart, tailored trouser suits to lace bodysuits with leather skirts and dramatic experimental outfits.
Over the past two years, Megan has worn multiple revealing, risqué outfits on the red carpet and has even matched Machine Gun Kelly’s look in the past.
Thirty-two-year-old Hollywood star Kristen Stewart has come a long way both career and fashion-wise since being hurled into the spotlight in the 2000s.
The actress began to change her look in 2014 when she broke up with Twilight co-actor Robert Pattinson and started dating a woman for the first time – her assistant at the time Alicia Cargile.
Sophie Turner pictured left in 2013, had a more conservative style and even dresses older than her years before she met Joe Jonas. Since she married the pop star (pictured at this year’s Met Gala, right), Sophie has opted for a more fashion forward and adventurous style
Since then, Kirsten has dated singer Soko and musician St Vincent, during which her more masculine look continued to evolve.
Before Alicia, Kirsten’s wardrobe was more girlish, and the actress chose to wear eye-catching dresses on the red carpet.
Her look began to adapt to be less feminine, more grunge, as she was seen in ripped denim, baggy jumpers, and leather shorts.
The actress started wearing short suits on the red carpet and cut her long brunette locks short.
Today, Kristen is engaged to screenwriter Dylan Meyer, and continues to channel the style she started to adopt during her relationship with Alicia – but her hair is long once again.
While model Hailey Beiber hasn’t completely abandoned her polished style (left), she tends to look more put together for solo outings, but mimics her husband Justin’s more grungey style when they’re together (right)
Other stars who have also adopted their partners style include Hailey Bieber, who has opted for a grungier style since marrying Justin, and Sophie Turner, who has taken on a more adventurous fashion sense since meeting Joe Jonas.
Meanwhile Maisie Williams has also transformed her style since she started dating her boyfriend Reuben Selby.
Maisie and Reuben first sparked romance rumours at the start of 2019, after they were spotted strolling around New York City holding hands.
She seemed to make the relationship official after he accompanied her to Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner’s French wedding back in June of that year, posting a photo of them together on Instagram.
The pair often wear matching or coordinated outfits, which tend to be colourful and outlandish in style, and a departure from the preppy look Maisie was known for when she first shot to fame.
While model Hailey Beiber hasn’t completely abandoned her polished style, she tends to look more put together for solo outings, but mimics her husband Justin’s more grungey style when they’re together.
Celebrity stylist Rochelle White previously told Femail that the couple (dubbed as Jailey by their loyal fans) most likely wear similar outfits when together to present a ‘united front’ and illustrate the ‘Bieber brand’.
Rochelle said: ‘I would say that Hailey mirrors Justin’s style when they are together, because they just have an unspoken bond and similar fashion prowess.
