Why Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson’s speaking tour in Australia has been postponed

Why Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson’s tell-all speaking tour in Australia has been postponed – as promoters assure it has NOTHING to do with Prince Harry’s explosive memoir

People across the nation will be disappointed to hear Sarah Ferguson’s visit to Australia has been postponed to ‘later this year’.

The Duchess of York, 63, planned to visit Melbourne for a tell-all of her private life in February but has since cancelled the trip ‘due to a new schedule clash’.

The Herald Sun reported on Saturday the quiet postponement had naught to do with Prince Harry‘s shakeup since it was announced before his memoir Spare caused waves online.

‘Unfortunately, due to a new schedule clash beyond the Duchess of York’s control, the shows scheduled for February will be postponed to later in the year, on dates to be advised,’ the promoter’s website read.

However, a spokesperson warned the speaking tour may actually be postponed to 2024 instead.

Ms Ferguson intended to share intimate, untold details about her life and being in the public eye – to be hosted by TV veteran Ray Martin.

The event, titled In Conversation with Sarah, is set to see the exiled royal reveal more about her marriage to ex-husband Prince Andrew and the ‘dark times’ that followed.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the Duchess will pocket a fee estimated to be more than $250,000.

Ticket prices range from $99 to $188 across theatres in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane and will seat up to 2000 guests.

The publication also says that event promoters are ‘confident’ the sit down with Ms Ferguson will sell out.

Promoter Simon Baggs said: ‘We call this concept intellectual entertainment, the idea revolving around globally renowned people on stage sharing things the audience might not have known or thought of before.

‘Sarah is very engaging and entertaining, and we believe there is a lot of her story that people don’t really know.’

In a statement announcing her tour, the Duchess shared her excitement to be visiting the country again.

‘I am so excited to be coming to Australia to share stories of my life,’ she said. ‘Australia has been home to my sister for many decades and I see it as a second home.’

Ms Ferguson’s last visit Down Under was in 2016 when she attended a charity fundraiser at St Vincent’s Hospital.
