Willow released her fifth studio album Coping Mechanism in October, with the singer opening up about the rock-centric album.

‘I always love doing things on my terms and in my way and I knew that [exploring rock music] was just gonna be an extension of that,’ she said of the album.

‘I just love music. I think that that’s something that we’re missing a lot nowadays [because] people love being recognized,’ she added.

‘My little nephew Dom is nine. He is the sweetest little boy. We came home. He had stayed up late to see his uncle Will, and we are sitting in my kitchen, and he is on my lap, and he is holding the Oscar, and he is just like, “Why did you hit that man, Uncle Will?”‘ Smith said.

Smith’s new film Emancipation is based on the true story of a slave known as ‘Whipped Peter,’ whose photo of his scourged back from his owner’s whippings was published in 1863 and showed the world the cruelty of slavery.

The film from director Antoine Fuqua will debut in theaters Friday, December 2 before streaming on Apple TV Plus December 9.
