A retail worker has been charged with sexually assaulting five of his colleagues inside their place of employment.

The 26-year-old man is accused of touching the women while working at a store at Birkenhead Point shopping centre in Sydney’s inner-west.

The incidents allegedly occurred over a 17 month period between February 2019 and July 2020.

Police launched an investigation in July after reports five women had been sexually assaulted by a man known to them.

The investigation led to police arresting a man at Burwood Police Station at about 11.30am on Friday.

He was charged with six counts of sexual intercourse without consent among 12 charges.

Police will allege in court that the women – aged between 18 and 21 – were sexually assaulted by the man while working at a store at Drummoyne.

The man was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on November 23.
