Yankees reliever Tommy Kahnle out with wrist tendinitis

DETROIT — Tommy Kahnle was unavailable out of the bullpen Tuesday night with right wrist tendinitis.

The right-hander said the issue had cleared up by Tuesday night and he will be ready to pitch Wednesday if needed, but his absence left the Yankees short in their 12-11 loss to the woeful Tigers.

“It’s just a thing that popped up,’’ said Kahnle, who last pitched Saturday in Boston.

Kehnle has reemerged as a vital part of the bullpen after a disastrous, injury-plagued 2018 season.

He said he never had a similar issue before and is confident the injury is behind him after several days of treatment, although he didn’t need a cortisone shot.

Aaron Boone went with Chance Adams in the bottom of the ninth, and he allowed Jordy Mercer’s game-winning RBI single. The manager only planned to use Aroldis Chapman if the Yankees were protecting a lead.
