It came after cancer left her unable to get pregnant on her own.
After a gruesome battle with stage IV non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, Brittany, 46, was told she may never be able to have children. And that’s when her twin sister, Cynthia, 46, stepped in.
The two women rose to fame after they starred as Elizabeth and Jessica Wakefield in the 90s TV series Sweet Valley High.
And according to Cynthia, it was a no-brainer to donate her eggs to her twin sister, who she already ‘shared everything with.’
‘I saw it as such a simple gift I could give to her. I know Brittany would do it in a split second for me. And we’ve always shared everything, so why not this?’ Cynthia told People Magazine during a recent interview.
‘We are so intertwined. Everything that’s hers is mine and everything that’s mine is hers,’ Brittany added.
Brittany and her husband, Adam Touni, welcomed their daughter, Hope Rose Touni, on October 24, 2021.

Sweet Valley High premiered in September 1994 and went on for four seasons before it went off the air in October 1997.
After it concluded, Brittany continued to act, starring in movies and TV shows like Dawson’s Creek, That ’70s Show, White Chicks, and more.
As for Cynthia, she decided to step out of the spotlight after the show came to an end, so that she could focus on starting a family.
‘I always thought I’d be the first to get married and start a family,’ Brittany admitted. ‘But I was serious about my career, and I was having a good time.’
However, that came to a halt when she was diagnosed with cancer in 2011. At the time, Cynthia recalled wondering, ‘Am I going to lose my sister?’
She added: ‘She was so strong, but it was so hard to watch.’

Brittany went through six months of intense chemotherapy and fully recovered, however, after going through that she said her outlook on life changed.
‘I remember thinking that I had a new lease on life,’ she said. ‘I was ready to find a partner and have a child.’
Unfortunately, she was told that due to the chemo, all of her eggs had been diminished so she could not get pregnant on her own. She then approached Cynthia, who ‘didn’t hesitate.’ But unfortunately, Brittany and her husband had three unsuccessful in vitro fertilization (IVF) attempts using Cynthia’s eggs.
Discouraged, Brittany said she was started to think she would never ‘be a mom in this lifetime.’ They then decided to use a surrogate with Cynthia’s egg — and it was successful. And when Hope was born last fall, Brittany said the entire room was ‘bawling’ because they all ‘knew what they had been through.’ Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Cynthia wasn’t able to see her niece in person for the first few months of her life, but in December, they were finally able to meet face-to-face.
