‘Destiny 2’ Reveals Even More Subclass Modifiers, New Titan Stasis Details – Forbes

Well it’s Titan reveal day for Destiny 2, as we not only get a look at the power of Stasis as wielded by a Titan, who naturally makes a boxing glove out of the ice (sorry “frozen darkness”) as soon as they get it, but they can do other stuff too.

On Tuesday we saw the grand reveal of how Stasis subclasses are changing the game by using Aspects and Fragments, two new types of modifiers. This week, we get a look at two more, and how they might apply to a Titan.

Tectonic Harvest Aspect – The image for this is a frozen Fallen arm, which is a little creepy. The description says that when you shatter a Stasis crystal, that creates a Stasis shard that gives you melee energy when picked up. So sort of like an orb of light but one that comes from Stasis shattering instead, I guess. Remember, Aspects are class specific, so this one is only for Titans.

Whisper of Durance Fragment – Fragments are class neutral like mods. This one says that slow effects from your abilities last longer, and for “abilities that linger” their duration will also increase. I wonder if that applies for burning, once we can use this for other subclasses. It also seems like you could throw this on Hunter smoke for extra slow, again, once Void subclasses are brought in. So the fragments we get now may apply to all subclasses in the end, it seems like.

Then there’s the Titan itself, where we now know some of its abilities, including its super.

Glacial Quake – This is the Titan Super which raises up glaciers from the ground as you leap and slam your way through frozen enemies. But this is supposedly more complex than the Fist of Havoc super that everyone is comparing it to. Here’s a quote from the article describing things you can do with it in motion: “There’s a degree of subtlety there too, if you want it. For example, you can cancel out of a slide into a massive Stasis-powered leap, only to cancel that just at the right moment and direct the Behemoth downward into a devastating slam.”

Shiver Strike – This is the melee ability which has you lunge forward and punch with an AOE slow ability and knockback on target. You can see how this would be affected by the Aspect above.

Ground Control – I am little confused on this, as this makes it sound like it’s your melee ability too, but only when used in midair. This freezes a group of enemies when you slam down in an AOE.

There’s also talk about the Titan being able to create walls to “control the battle” and I am wondering if like the Warlock’s freezing rift, that maybe there’s something that can turn your barricade into a solid ice wall (that you probably cannot see through). We have seen ice wall grenades in the trailers, but maybe this is something Titan specific.

We have to wait five more days on September 8 so we can get a look at the Hunter, and in turn, more Fragments and Aspects, no doubt. We may learn if Hunters are going to get Blink back, as that has been hinted at in the Warlock Stasis article. For now though, ice punching sounds pretty damn great as a Titan, and this new subclass mod system is stellar.
