Veteran Neighbours star Jackie Woodburne has delivered the performance of a lifetime after she was given the honour of filming the soap’s final scene on Friday.

The actress, 66, who has played Susan Kennedy since 1994 will end the show talking about family and friendship as the 37-year-old series comes to an end.

According to The Sun, Jackie will remember the highs and lows of Ramsay Street before ending with a heartfelt message to all the ‘good neighbours’.

Neighbours was axed after the UK’s Channel 5 decided in March not to renew its contract with production company Fremantle to finance and broadcast the series.

After shooting a quick scene, Jackie was spotted chatting to crew members before driving off.

Neighbours announced in March that production would cease on the long-running soap due to lack of financial backing.

‘We are so sorry to say that after nearly 37 years and almost 9,000 episodes broadcast we have to confirm that Neighbours will cease production in June,’ the show wrote on Twitter.

‘Following the loss of our key broadcast partner in the UK [Channel 5] and despite an extensive search for alternative funding, we simply have no option but to rest the show.

‘To our amazing, loyal fans, we know this is a huge disappointment, as it is to all of us on the team. We thank you for all your messages and support and promise to end the show on an incredible high. From here on, we are celebrating Neighbours.’
