Trainers, a huge new update is coming to Pokémon GO, with new graphics, new game visuals, avatar updates, and a whole new AR Buddy experience to enjoy. This is a huge array of quality of life updates, and completely new experiences, we are hyped!
New Visuals
Discover a brand new look with updates to the in-game map, the encounter screens, battle
screens, and more—all tailored to your location and biome. From lush green forests to busy cities, from tropical beaches to rugged mountain tops, you can immerse yourself in the diverse landscapes of Pokémon GO. Some trainers have been able to access these new visuals for a short time, and now they are coming globally!
New Avatar Updates
Both your avatar options and the Style Shop have also received updates, allowing you to express yourself with more customization options than ever before. Some trainers had been experiencing these via beta testing, prepare to see a more realistic representation of yourself if that is what you desire, or whatever version of yourself you want to present to the world!
New GO Snapshot Experience
And finally, take your Pokémon photography to new heights with our updated GO Snapshot experience, which now allows you to include up to three Pokémon in a single photo! Don’t miss out on these exciting updates—dive into the adventure today!
AR Community, get hyped! This looks related to the recently datamined ‘Iris’ AR mode which looks like it has a lot of potential.
Dates to Look Forward to
Some dates have been teased to look forward to in Pokémon GO:
- 17th April: Rediscover Yourself
- 22nd April: Rediscover Your World
- 22nd April: Rediscover Kanto
- 7th May: Rediscover Your Reality
What could these be? We suspect ‘Rediscover Yourself’ could be the global rollout of the new avatar and style shop update. ‘Rediscover Your World’ appears to refer to the new in-game map, so may be the global launch of the incredible new catch backgrounds and more. ‘Rediscover Kanto’ looks like an event dedicated to exploring the new world of Pokémon GO, with a focus on the Kanto region. Could it be an event aimed at encouraging exploring new areas so that you can fully experience the new locations and maps? And finally, ‘Rediscover Your Reality’ would make sense as the launch of the new AR Buddy experience, with the ability to photograph multiple Pokémon at once, and more!
The rest of April and early May look to be an exciting time for a major overhaul of Pokémon GO, with a new look to the game, new ways to play, and a new world to look forward to. Meet you out there?
