They continued: ‘It’s been a wild four years, all the way from Zara’s parents’ home office to our very own pod studio and space at The Commons.

‘It feels like yesterday that we were a team of two, taking selfies where the microphones are quite clearly not plugged in,’ they continued.

‘Super grateful for anyone who contributed to the 50 mill, and of course to the six legends who join us in the office every week and make this job really bloody fun.’

Last year, they revealed to the Herald Sun what the secret was behind the success of their show which had quickly become one of Australia’s most popular podcasts.

‘We’ve had to create this relationship where we can be brutally honest and have no personal attachments to our disagreements,’ Zara, 28, explained.

‘It’s a unique bond that you have to really nurture and be very respectful about. It’s a pretty difficult thing to do; I don’t know many people who would be able to do it. And I don’t have any other relationship like it in my life.’

Michelle, 28, added: ‘We talk all day, every day. We love talking and we have since we met. We’re genuinely great friends. I think our friendship is the heart of the show. We adore each other’s company.’

Shameless hit 10million downloads by the end of 2019 and often tops the Society & Culture charts.

Since launching Shameless in 2018, Zara and Michelle have gone on to publish their own book, The Space Between, about the struggles and realities of being in your twenties.

Despite their success, the pair have faced competition in the last year from Brittney Hockley and Laura Byrne’s similar podcast, Life Uncut.

Life Uncut recently reached 10million total downloads in less than two years, and often beats Shameless on the charts these days.

‘I’m speechless, gob smacked and so incredibly humbled by all who have listened, messaged, cried and laughed along with this little podcast Brittany and I created in my bedroom,’ Laura wrote on Instagram after hitting the milestone.
